The Denington Choral Series, as endorsed by former King’s Singer member Philip Lawson, is a range of choral works set in both SATB and SSA formats that will enhance the repertoire of both Christian and secular choirs. Here is a setting of an Isaac Watts hymn by Ray Steadman-Allen, written in the early 1970s. Expansive melody lines combine with rich harmonies and gently swung rhythms to produce a reverential atmosphere appropriate to the text. A piano solo leads into the final chorus.
