The opening two verses are in unison with plenty of rhythmic interest but then there is a gentler passage in simpler block harmony, first two-part and then four-part, to the words 'His name is high above all names. His love endures for all mankind.' The second rendition leads to a surprising shift to Db major which lifts the song towards a recapitulation of the opening music, this time in F major, and the whole piece comes to a triumphant climax with a crescendo to fortissimo at the words 'He is exalted Lord most high!'
